• Many have been forced to escape their own countries due to terrorist attacks, meaning they try to cross the border into other countries to seek refuge

• This puts pressure on these countries as many are already struggling economically and must provide shelter and protection to these people

• According to the UN, in 2019 there were 70 million people forced to move to other countries

Lower international investment

• Multinational companies want to avoid the risk of their employees, physical damages and the reputational costs from being in countries with terrorism

• This impacts already economically struggling countries

• Since November 2023, Houthi militants attacked over 100 merchant vessels in the Red Sea, disrupting global trade and resulting in significant economic costs

Wider conflict and war

• Wars are incredibly dangerous, resulting in the loss of many lives and the increase in tension between the countries involved

• On the 7th of October 2023, Hamas attacked Israel, which triggered the ongoing war in Gaza
