What are the four heart valves?

Tricuspid, Bicuspid, Pulmonic, Aortic

Atrioventricular (AV) Valves

• Tricuspid – Between right atrium & right ventricle

• Mitral (bicuspid) – Between left atrium & left ventricle

Semilunar Valves

• Pulmonic – Between right ventricle & pulmonary artery

• Aortic – Between left ventricle & aorta

Aortic & Pulmonic heart sounds are best heard where?

at the base (S2 is louder)

Mitral & Tricuspid sounds are best heard where?

at the apex (S1 is louder)
