What was the Alien Act?
The Alien Act allowed the President to punish and remove citizens of hostile foreign nations living in the United States during a time of declared war. It aimed to protect the country by targeting those seen as potential threats from enemy nations.
What was the Sedition Acts
The Sedition Act made it a crime to criticize or defame the government, Congress, or the President, including publishing false or scandalous writings. People found guilty could be fined or imprisoned for opposing or insulting the government.
