It means looking at the readily visible parts of the text, like titles and subtitles, and also visuals and graphs, pictures, and charts.
Skimming
It is used to quickly gather the most important information, or 'gist'
Scanning
It is used to find a particular piece of information. Run your eyes over the text looking for the specific piece of information you need.
Extensive Reading
It is general reading to improve knowledge or for pleasure.
Intensive reading
it is used when learning technical information or new content.
Writing Skills
It involves creatively expressing messages, sharing ideas and experiences, understanding its reflective process, and recognizing different purposes and audiences.
Viewing
It is a process that supports oracy and literacy.
Context Clues
Hints that the author gives to help define a difficult or unusual word.
Synonyms
Used when the text has words or phrases that are similar in meaning to the unknown word
Antonym
Is a word that reveals the opposite meaning of the unknown word
Situation
The meaning of a word may change depending on its context, or how and where it is used.
Denotation
The basic, precise, literal meaning of the word that can be found in a dictionary.
Connotation
The positive, negative, or neutral feelings, attitudes, ideas, or associations with a word.

Reading comprehension is the process of making meaning from text.
Text
Refers to written materials like books, letters, newspapers, or any written content conveying information.
Discourse
Any kind of written or spoken communication.
To Inform
It provides a descriptive and comprehensive discussion on the topic.
To Persuade
Convince the readers that the proposed claim or solution is better than any other proposal.
To Entertain
Aims to amuse provides a source of entertainment for its readers.
Description
It relies on the five senses to help the audience visualize something. It may use imagery to help the reader visualize a scene or object, or it might rely on descriptions of sounds or feelings to immerse the reader in a piece’s setting.
Narration
This type of discourse is like storytelling. It recalls events chronologically. This discourse is told in the fi rst-, second-, or third-person point of view
Exposition
This aims to inform about, clarify, and explain a phenomenon.
Argumentation
Aims to persuade by using logic and appealing to reason.
