Strong Electrolytes
Soluble IONIC compounds (strong acids and bases that dissociate almost entirely into ions in a solution)
Weak Electrolytes
Compound that only dissociates to a small extent when placed into a solution (weak acids and bases)
Strong Acids: HCl, HBr, HI, HNO₃, H₂SO₄, HClO₄, HIO₄
Strong Bases: Hydroxides of Group 1 (LiOH, NaOH, KOH, etc.) and heavy Group 2 (Ca(OH)₂, Sr(OH)₂, Ba(OH)₂).
Nonelectrolytes
Insoluble ionic compounds (ex: H2O and molecular covalent compounds)
Light Equations
E = hv
E = hc/λ
λ = wavelength
h = plancks constant → 6.626×10-34 J*s
v = frequency
