Lymph Nodes
Structures that monitor lymphatic fluid and are crucial for immune response.
Innate Immune System
A nonspecific immune system that responds to all non-self entities without memory.
Adaptive Immune System
A highly specific immune system that recognizes antigens and has memory.
Antibody-Mediated Immunity
A component of the adaptive immune system that targets pathogens in body fluids.
Cytotoxic T-cells
T-cells that kill pathogen-infected cells.
Memory Cells
Cells that remain after an infection, allowing for faster response upon re-exposure.
Primary Immune Response
The initial response of B and T cells to a first exposure to an antigen.
Secondary Immune Response
The faster immune response that occurs upon re-exposure to the same antigen.
Vaccination
The process of exposing the immune system to a pathogen to initiate a primary immune response.
Autoimmunity
A condition where the immune system mistakenly attacks the body's own tissues.
Immunodeficiency
A state where the immune system's ability to fight infectious diseases is compromised.
