Primary sources
Historical sources that existed or were created during the time under study, providing "first-hand experience".
Secondary sources
Second-hand information that describes or analyzes events after they have already happened.
What event marks the starting point of the Christian/Common Era?
The birth of Jesus Christ.
BC vs. AD
- BC: Before the birth of Jesus Christ.
- AD: Anno Domini (years after Jesus was born).
Prehistory
The period from approximately 3 million years ago to 3000 BC.
The Ancient Times
The period from 3000 BC to 476 AD (ending with the fall of the Western Roman Empire).
