Maintenance Data Documentation (MDD)
The process used to document maintenance actions and associated data in a consistent and reliable manner.
On-Equipment
Data documented to describe maintenance performed directly on end items of equipment.
Off-Equipment
Data documented to describe maintenance performed on assemblies, subassemblies, or components removed from end items.
Data Entry Modes
The four modes by which maintenance data can be entered: during scheduled or unscheduled maintenance, during aircrew debriefing, or via onboard recording devices.
Decision Logic Table (DLT)
A tabular format specifying rules for documenting data in the MDD system.
Job Control Number (JCN)
A unique identifier assigned to each maintenance job that ties together actions, man-hours, and parts replaced.
Work Center Code
A five-character identifier used to designate the organizational element to which maintenance personnel are assigned.
Action Taken Code (ATC)
A one-character code that identifies the specific maintenance action that was performed.
How Malfunctioned Code (HMC)
A three-character code used to indicate the nature of a defect on an item, rather than the cause of a discrepancy.
Standard Reporting Designator (SRD)
A three-character code assigned to items to facilitate accounting and reporting for maintenance activities.
TCTO Status Codes
Codes used to indicate the compliance status of Time-Compliance Technical Orders.
AFTO Form 349
The Maintenance Data Document Record used to capture maintenance data for on-equipment actions.
AFTO Form 350
The Reparable Item Processing Tag used for documenting actions taken on reparable items.
Troubleshooting
The action of determining defective components requiring repair or replacement.
Indirect Labor Reporting
Authorized reporting of labor hours not directly linked to a specific maintenance action.
Validity and Reliability of Data
The assurance that the data collected accurately reflects the maintenance performed and adheres to documentation rules.
Documentation Rules
Specified guidelines for consistent documentation of maintenance actions across various levels.
Reparable Item
An item that can be repaired and returned to service.
Non-reporting Workcenter
A workcenter where maintenance personnel may expend manhours, but are not assigned maintenance duties.
Component Position
A numeric character identifying the position of an installed engine, engine-related item, or egress item.
