-Kildare bypass decrease in water levels in Pollardstown containing rare vegetation
-new houses on floodplane so flooding
-eg. River Shannon Athlone

3. Loss of ancient monuments

-N3 motorway through Skyne Valley close to Hill of Tara
-demolition of Carrickmines Castle to allow M50
-2003 viking settlements found during building of N25

4. Growth of dormitory towns

-towns swamped by residents eg. Swords + Greystones
-due to cheaper housing far from city centre
-sense of community is difficult bc work hrs
