good boy/girl morality, is based on conformity and wants to know what others think of them

• tries to avoid being seen as bad and wants to join the crowd

stage 4 - authority and maintaining social order

-       is based on rules and following it because they help keep society calm (LAW AND ORDER)

stage 5 - social contract

-       is based on rules as something with purpose or an agreement that should help everyone

• emphasis on individual rights and if it is fair for all

stage 6 - universal ethical principles

is based on deep moral principles like justice, equality, and compassion
