Peripheral nervous system
collections of axons are called nerves
Spinal nerves
often follow blood vessels, contain afferent and efferent axons
Afferent axons
sensory, unipolar, flow towards the CNS
Efferent axons
muscle and gland, multipolar, flow away from CNS
Cranial nerves
control sensory and motor functions of head and neck

voluntary nervous system, receives sensory information and controls, movement of skeletal muscles

activities that increase supply of energy
