Mary Queen of Scots is sent to France to be educated. Henry II states that Scotland and France are "one country". Somerset sends the Earl of Shrewsbury North to secure the border

Sends Lord Dacre and Earl of Rutland to guard the border and makes Earl of Shrewsbury the Lord President of the Council in the North. In August, he is forced to call troops from the North to guard the English Channel
