Lactation
The secretion of milk by the mammary glands.
Galactorrhea
The abnormal discharge of milk from the breast not associated with childbirth or nursing.
Fibroadenoma
A benign tumor composed of glandular and fibrous tissue, commonly found in young women.
Cyst
A sac-like structure containing fluid; can be simple (filled with fluid) or complex (may contain solid components).
Fibrocystic Disease
A condition characterized by lumpiness in the breast and discomfort due to hormonal changes.
Mammogram
A specialized X-ray of the breast used to detect tumors and other changes.
Calcifications
Small deposits of calcium in breast tissue that can be detected on mammograms, which may indicate benign or malignant processes.
Pelvic Inflammatory Disease
An infection of the female reproductive organs that can lead to serious complications, such as infertility.
Bacterial Vaginosis
A condition caused by an imbalance of bacteria in the vagina, leading to symptoms such as discharge and odor.
Vaginal Candidiasis
A fungal infection resulting in itching, discharge, and irritation in the vaginal area.
Human Papilloma Virus (HPV)
A viral infection that can lead to genital warts and is associated with cervical cancer.
Chlamydia
A common sexually transmitted infection that may not manifest symptoms but can lead to serious reproductive health issues.
Gonorrhea
A sexually transmitted infection caused by the bacterium Neisseria gonorrhoeae, affecting mucous membranes.
Menstrual Cycle
The regular natural change that occurs in the female reproductive system that makes pregnancy possible.
Obstetrical History
A record of a woman's pregnancy experiences and outcomes.
Gravidity History
A record reflecting the total number of confirmed pregnancies a woman has had.
GTPAL
A common abbreviation used in obstetrical history: Gravida, Term births, Preterm births, Abortions, and Living children.
Vaginitis
Inflammation of the vagina, resulting in discharge, itching, and discomfort.
Prostaglandins
Hormones involved in the menstrual cycle that promote uterine contractions and other reproductive functions.
Cervical Cancer
Cancer that occurs in the cells of the cervix, often caused by persistent infection with certain types of HPV.
