Internal:
strengths
weaknesses
External
opportunities
threats
features of strengths
things the business is good at
e.g. strong brans name, distribution channels, customer loyalty.
features of weaknesses
areas that the business has a weakness in
e.g. lack of skills or weak brand
features of opportunities
opportunities outside of business that is favourable
e.g. economica change, change to government policy, technological advances
features of threats
things that threaten the business from outside that they have no control over
e.g. closing of international markets

technique that allows an organisation to assess its overall position

strengths of SWOT
allows for identification of strengths around which strategy can be built
