Tissues
specialized cells that work together to get jobs done faster and more efficiently
Organs
tissues working together to perform a specific job.
Organ systems
organs working together to perform particular jobs/ functions.
Cell membrane
controls what enters and leaves the cell (gatekeeper)
Cytoplasm
jelly-like substance that holds all of the other organelles
Organelles
tiny parts inside a cell
Mitochondria
powerhouse of the cell - performs cellular respiration
Lysosome
cleans and digests food within a cell. only in animal cells
Chloroplast
site of photosynthesis. only in plant cells
Nucleus
control center of the cell
cell wall
provides structure & support. only in plant cells
