Deep gluteal syndrome – key pattern?
Buttock pain around sciatic notch ± posterior thigh radiation, ± tingling/weakness, Agg: sitting, sciatic stretch positions
FAI – key pattern?
Anterior hip/groin pain, clicking/catching, Agg: flexion + adduction (cross legs, stairs, pivoting, kicking)
Hip OA – key pattern?
Older patient, anterior hip/groin pain, deep ache ± sharp catching, gradual stiffness, ↓ ROM (IR/F)
GTPS (gluteal tendinopathy) – key pattern?
Lateral hip pain over greater trochanter ± down lateral thigh, Agg: lying on side, stairs, single leg load
Deep gluteal syndrome – key exam findings?
± neuro signs, SLR/slump may be +, weak hip abductors, pain on piriformis stretch/contract
FAI – key exam findings?
Painful FADIR, ↓ hip flexion/IR, antalgic gait, poor pelvic control

Global stiffness, ↓ AROM/PROM esp IR/F, Trendelenburg gait, muscle wasting

Tender GT, pain on SLS/squat/stairs, Trendelenburg, pain with hip abd/IR/ER

Lateral shoulder pain, Agg: overhead, lifting, HBB, lying on it, painful arc

Painful arc (70–120°), pain on resisted tests, weak RC ± scap, positive impingement tests

40–60yo, gradual onset, severe pain + progressive stiffness, night pain, HBB limited
