epiphysis

diaphysis
the shaft or central part of a long bone, consisting of compact bone surrounding the medullary cavity.

metaphysis
the region between the epiphysis and diaphysis of a long bone, where growth occurs during development.

spongy bone
Bone tissue that is less dense and contains trabecular structures, found primarily at the ends of long bones and within the interior of others.

epiphyseal line
A remnant of the growth plate found in mature bones, indicating where the epiphyseal plate was located during growth.

red bone marrow
