Cranium
The skull; a composite of multiple bones joined by sutures, not a single bone.
Occipital bone
The bottom portion of the cranium; forms a joint with the vertebral (vertical) column.
Vertical column
The vertebral column (spine) that connects to the cranium at the occipital junction; to be detailed later.
Clavicles
The two collarbones; noted for their interesting structure and introduced with the statement 'These are your clavicles.'
Sutures
Separations between skull bones that make the cranium a composite rather than a single bone.
Occipital-vertebral joint
The joint between the occipital bone and the vertebral column; highlighted as important and to be described further.
