nervous tissue, pressure receptor (mechanoreceptor) found deep in the dermis

adipose tissue

found in the hypodermis "subcutaneous layer", cushions, long-term energy storage

dermis

"hide of the skin", made of dense irregular fibrous connective tissue and loose connective tissue

sebaceous gland

stratified cuboidal epithelial, secretes sebum that lubricates and waterproofs hair and skin

sudoriferous gland

stratified cuboidal epithelial, eccrine and apocrine glands, thermoregulation

Meissner's corpuscle

nervous tissue, superficial to dermis, light touch receptors

hair follicle

stratified squamous and dense irregular connective tissue, protects the hair matrix and root, papillary muscle is attached

pacinian receptors

found deep in the dermis and detects pressure

root hair plexuses

wind in the hair (detects)

bare nerve endings

sense cold, heat, etc.
