Ch 19 translation

Dē Hūnīs in librīs patrum nostrōrum nōn multa sunt dicta.

In the books of our father not many things are said about the huns

Hī sunt ferī et ferōcēs. 

They are wild and ferocious 

Terribilēs vidērī cupiunt timōremque in aliīs hominibus excitāre.

They want to appear terrifying, and they want to wake up fear in other men

Itaque faciēs eōrum cōnsultō vulnerantur.

hey are wild and ferocious

Postquam vulnera sānāta sunt, cicātrīcēs manent, propter quās barba crēscere nōn potest.

After the wounds had been healed, scars remained, because of which their beards can not grow 

Hōrum fōrma nōn est pulchra, sed terribilis!

There appearance is not beautiful but terrifying 

Rādīcēs herbārum, quae correptae sunt ex agrīs, comedunt et animālium carnem, quae nōn cocta est sed paulisper trīta. 

They eat the root of the plaints, which they had  snached out of the fildes, and the meat of aniamls, which was not cooked but been rubbed for a little wile.

Nam carō, antequam ab eīs comeditur, posita est inter equum et femora eius quī in equō sedet et ibi paulisper manet. 

The meet, which is eaten by them is placed between the horse and the thighis of him who sits on the horse, and remains there for a while. 

Casās nōn habent, sed forīs habitant et vīvunt. 

They do not have houses but live outside and wonder 

Vestīmenta gerunt ex animālium pellibus facta.

They wear cloths made form animal skin 

Semper in equīs manent: in equīs comedunt, in equīs dormiunt, in  equīs pugnant. 

They will remain : they wat on the horse, they sleep on the horse, they fight on the horse

In hostēs impetūs celeriter faciunt, quōs in proeliō saepe laqueīs capiunt et captōs gladiīs occīdunt.

They swiftly make attacks against the enemies, whom they often capture with lasso in battal and whom they kill caputred by swords.
