What is a natural resource
a nature resource is something that comes from the environment around us naturally

Animals
Plants
Water
Air

Humans and animals need air to stay alive
They breathe in oxygen and breathe out carbon dioxide
Soil explained
Soil is the top layer of land where plants grow
it is made of rocks, decaying plants and animal matter , water and air
Without soil there would be no life on land and soil grows plants which provide food
Food is passed through a food chain without soil there is no food for animals
Forests explained
a forest is an area with a lot of trees and plants growing in it
People use wood from trees to:
-Build Homes
-Make furniture
-Make paper
-Burn fire wood
Animals & Marine Life explained
Animals and marine life are imported food and provide food for other animals or marine life and humans
People get meat eggs and milk from animals
animal food is usually high is protein and protein builds, maintains and makes new tissue in the body
Animals can like camels or donkeys can help people lift heavy loads

When people overuse resources in a harmful or damaging way we say they’re abusing resources

concept of conservation is about protecting and preserving natural resources
What does conserving encourage people to do
It encourages people to manage resources so they do not become damaged

Conservation reduces the damage people do to the environment and preserves for future generations

Conservation is about getting the balance correct between using resources and protecting resources

Some areas in south africa have been protected for their historical importance and/or scientific importance

The largest conservation areas in south africa are the national parks maintained by South African Nation Parks(SANParks)

South Africa protects about 17% of the coastline
Fishing is not allowed in many marine reserves
