Clauses of the Indian Independence Act, 1947

creation of two independent dominions from the date

15th august 1947

each dominion would have a substitutional head, also known as

the governor general

separate constiuent assemblies

that would also serve as central legislatures

state of princely states post independence

would have their separate power and authority terminated

office of the secretary of the secretary of state

would be demolished

provision was made for the division of

the indian army and their shared assets
