Lovel and Stafford rebellion

1486

• tried to capture York

• Limited support in Yorkshire and Worcestershire

• Failed Henry executed the older brother

Yorkshire rebellion

1489

• High taxes and poor harvest, people rebelled

• 5000 rebelled and killed earl of Northumberland

• Led by John egermot

• Put down by ear of Surrey, Henry never taxed them as much and set up council of the north

Cornish rebellion

1497

• Henry at war with Perkin raised taxes, people rebelled

• 15,000 rebels marched to Blackheath but were defeated at the battle of Deptford bridge

• Henry never taxed them as much after this

Lambert simnel rebellion

June 1487

• lambert sinner to pretend to be earl of Warwick and usurp Henry

• Margret Duchess of burgundy provided 2000 German mercenaries

• Supported by de la pole family ( earl of Lincoln)

• 8000 rebels defeated at battle of stoke

Perkin warbeck

1491-99

Aim to overthrow Henry and put himself on throne as the pretender Richard Duke of York

Gained support from European monarch

• France till treaty of etaples

• 1497 allied with James IV Scotland

Warbeck is executed in 1499
