Pressure
A normal force exerted by a fluid per unit area.
Pascal (Pa)
The unit of pressure, equivalent to one newton per square meter.
Kilopascal (kPa)
A unit of pressure equal to 1,000 pascals.
Megapascal (MPa)
A unit of pressure equal to 1,000,000 pascals.
Gauge Pressure
The pressure measured relative to atmospheric pressure.
Absolute Pressure
The total pressure at a given point, including atmospheric pressure.
Hydrostatic Pressure
The pressure exerted by a fluid at equilibrium due to the force of gravity.
Pressure Head
The height of a fluid column supported by the pressure in that fluid.
Pascal's Law
An external pressure applied to an enclosed fluid is transmitted uniformly throughout the volume of the liquid.
Manometer
A device used to measure pressure using a column of liquid.
Atmospheric Pressure
The pressure exerted by the weight of the atmosphere, typically measured in atm or Pa.
Fluid Column
A vertical column of fluid whose pressure is calculated based on its height and density.
Pressure Measurement
The methods and devices used to determine fluid pressure.
Vacuum Pressure
The pressure below atmospheric pressure.
Fluid Density (ρ)
The mass per unit volume of a fluid, affecting fluid pressure.
Pressure Drop
The decrease in pressure from one point to another in a fluid system.
Hydraulic Press
A device that uses Pascal's law to amplify force using fluid pressure.
Atmospheric Pressure Measurement
Using barometers to measure the pressure exerted by the atmosphere.
Water Seek its Level
The principle that indicates fluid pressure is independent of the shape and area of the container.
Pressure in Static Liquids
Pressure in a static liquid increases linearly with depth.
Pressure is Scalar
Pressure has magnitude but no specific direction.
