Fixed Interval Schedule (FI)
A schedule of reinforcement where a reinforcer is delivered after the first response following a specific interval of time.
Scalloped Pattern
A pattern of responding in a fixed interval schedule characterized by a low level of responding immediately following reinforcement, followed by a rapid increase as the next reinforcement opportunity approaches.
Variable Interval Schedule (VI)
A schedule of reinforcement where reinforcers are delivered after the first response following a random interval that averages out to a specific value.
Behavioral Responses
Actions or reactions of an organism that can be measured and recorded in psychological studies.
Reinforcement
A consequence that increases the likelihood of a behavior being repeated.
Cumulative Recorder
A device used to record responses over time, often producing a graph showing the rate of responding.
Moderate Rate of Responding
The characteristic response rate observed in a variable interval schedule, where responses are more consistent and steady.
Evaluations
Periodic assessments used by employers to measure employee performance, often on a variable interval schedule.
