England fought the Anglo-french war against France. Attempts to raise funds for this war again led to conflict with parliament

Charles I declared martial law and required private individuals to feed and house military personnel in their homes without consent

→due to rising tensions between crown and parliament, Charles I dissolved his third parliament and had 9 members of parliament imprisoned. Charles I would not call another parliament for 11 years and instead attempted to reign as an absolute monarch
