Dependent/Paired samples t-test
compares two sample means from the same group of subjects
(test & retest or before and after)
One-way ANOVA
A statistical test used to analyze data from an experimental design with one independent variable that has three or more groups (levels).
independent samples t-test
a hypothesis test used to compare two means for a between-groups design, a situation in which each participant is assigned to only one condition
two way ANOVA
a hypothesis test that includes two nominal independent variables, regardless of their numbers of levels, and a scale dependent variable
Repeated Measures ANOVA
You have three sets of values you are comparing (pre-,mid-, and post-), and these sets are dependent, becauseeach participant provides data at each timepoint.
Repeated measures ANOVA
This is used for measuring depression levels in the same group at four different timepoints.
Independent samples t-test
This is appropriate for comparing anxiety scores between two independent groups (in-state vs. out-of-state students).
Dependent samples t-test
This is used for comparing anxiety scores of the same students at two timepoints (beginning and end of freshman year).
One-way ANOVA
This is suitable for comparing mental health ratings across four independent groups (refugees from different regions).
Two-way ANOVA
This is appropriate for examining the effects of two categorical factors (previous stats course and homework completion) on course grades.
