Motion

Change in position of an object over time describe in terms of displacement, distance, velocity, acceleration, time, and speed

Displacement

a Vector quality that’s a straight line distance between start and endpoints/ Specifies distance and direction

Distance

a Scalar quantity that’s a mesure of how far apart objects are

Scalar

Quantities that have size or magnitude

Vectors

Quantities that have both size or magnitude and a direction

Velocity

The change of displacement per unit of time (Vector)

Average velocity formula

Vav = Change in displacement/Change in time

Speed

The change of distance per uniform of time (no direction scalar)

Average speed

The overall change of distance per unit of time without reference to its direction

Instantaneous speed

Speed at a particular instance or point in time

Force

interaction between two objects (Always in pairs) a push, pull, or twist

What do you measure force in?

Newtons

Amour of matter in object

Weight

Name given to pulling force of gravity on object

Independent variable

Variable that you change in an experiment

Dependent variable

Variable affected by change (thing you mesure)
