Cell membrane
regulates what goes in and out. Also has receptor molecules which allow it to respond to chemicals
Nuclear envelope
double membrane surrounding the nucleus separating it from the cytoplasm and protecting the DNA
Nuclear pores
protein lined envelope that regulates passage of molecules between nucleus and cytoplasm
Chromatin
a mixture of DNA and proteins that makes up chromosomes
Nucleolus
made up of RNA and proteins and is where ribosomes are made
Lysosome
contains digestive enzymes that digest invading enzymes or break down old components of the cell
Ribosomes
can float free or be attached to the rough endoplasmic reticulum. It’s made up of proteins and RNA and makes proteins
Rough endoplasmic reticulum
fluid surrounded by membranes that are covered with ribosomes. It folds and processes proteins that have been made in the ribosomes.
Smooth endoplasmic recticulum
Unlike the RER it has no ribosomes. It synthesis and processes lipids
Vesicle
a fluid sac in the cytoplasm that transports substances in and out the cell and between organelles.
Golgi apparatus
group of flattened sacs that process and package new lipids and proteins. It also makes lysosomes
Cilia
hair like structures on the cell membrane. It has a membrane with nine pairs of rings on the outside and two pairs on the inside(known as 9+2)
Centrioles
micro tubules involved with separation of chromosomes during cell division
