What do these parts of the brain do?

  • Frontal lobe - Higher cognitive functions such as impulse control, emotions, problem solving, social interaction and motor function.

  • Temporal lobe - Emotions, encoding of memory, visual perception

  • Parietal lobe - Receiving and processing sensory input such as touch, pressure, heat, cold and pain, perception of body awareness and the construction of a spatial coordinate system

  • Occipital lobe - Visual perception, including form and motion

  • Cerebellum - motivation, social and emotional behaviours, and reward learning
