a number 10 file has a taper of 0.2, what is the D0 and D16?
D0 is 0.10 mm
D16 is 0.42 mm

what are the beneficial features of rotary instruments?
made of nickel titanium which is a flexible material that is able to follow mild curves
fluets lift debris coronally
tapered shafts reduce the number or instruments needed
what is the difference in taper between S files and F files?
S files have a more drastic taper toward the top of the file, so it cuts the coronal portion
F files have a more drastic taper toward the bottom of the file, so it cuts more at the apical portion
what is the furcation danger zone?
it is the zone on the mesial portion of the root canal, it is usually much thinner than the distal portion of the root canal
not being aware of the danger zone can lead to strip perforation
