What is dementia

Alzheimer’s disease occurs due to
Nerve cells that control intellectual and social function becoming damaged
What functions are affected by Alzheimer’s
memory, thinking, language, judgement, personality, mood, etc
Stage 1 of Alzheimer’s
Mild: Memory loss, disoriented to the time/place, lack of spontaneity, problems with everyday tasks.
Stage 2 of Alzheimer’s
Moderate: Sleep problems, restlessness, loses impulse control, repeats motion/statements, Agitation, etc
Stage 3 of Alzheimer’s
Severe: Seizures, cannot speak, communicates with grunts, and screams. Unable to recognize self and people around them, completely dependent on other for help, bed bound, coma, and death.
