* The fear that you may not get a lot of time with a family 
* Spending by families increased during the postwar boom
* Which means the economy continues to grow
* A lot of soldiers coming back from war they haven't seen their wives in a long time and they are also anxious because they just got back from war and have anxiety about another one happening so the want to start a family

* Car radios and radios needed to be used a different way now bc of TV’s 
* Radios no longer focused so much on news and expanded to now focus on music 
* The Harlem Renaissance inspired the new music 
* Beats and rhythms excited white teens 
* Big records ignored this new genre of music so small recording studios began to be prominent

TV’s brought families together they would sit in the living room and watch TV together

Korea after WWII

* North and south korea are going to form and split apart 
* They split apart at the 38th parallel 
* The parties from both sides were hopeful that they could reunite and become a united nation 
* Tensions continued to grow
* The US supported south korea 
* Syngman rhee who was for the republic of korea 
* The soviet union backed north korea 
* The leader was Kim il Sung

Early Part of the War

* North korea quickly captures the capital of Seoul 
* In june, 2 days later the US joins to help the south koreans 
* In october china joins the North Koreans 
* Throughout the whole thing, the soviet union is backing the north 
* South Korea is ready for the war, the North slips around them and takes the city and this is the start of the Korean war. The Korean War marks the beginning of the Cold war.
