Lasix is a diuretic which causes excretion of excess fluid theough urine. One example of its use is to use it during CHF to flush out excess fluid surrounding the heart. One example of Lasix is Furosemide.

Drawing Blood For Oncology

  • Oncologists like to use the back legs for administering cancer treatment, so it is best to draw blood from other locations.

  • A fresh stick is because if the medication gets administered in a blown vein, it can get into the tissue and cause it to become necrotic and die.

Drain in Deep Gashes

  • Steps:

    • Empty soda lime into trash can.

    • Vacuum container and anesthesia machine.

    • Fill container to the fill line with soda lime.

    • Line up container and close unit.

    • Check the circuit.

    • Assemble anesthesia machine.

    • Close the pop up valve.

    • Put hand on respirator tube.

    • Fill the ventilator bag to 20cm H2O which is the max volume capacity of the lungs.

    • Look for leaks.

    • Open the pop up valve and then take hand off respiratory tube.

    • Relabel container with date sodabsorb was changed and with initials.
