London hosts the Games of the XXX Olympiad.
London hosted the Olympic Games in 1908, 1948 and 2012. The 2012 Summer Olympics made London the first city to have hosted the modern Games of three Olympiads.

Charles became king upon his mother's death on 8 September 2022. At the age of 73, he became the oldest person to accede to the British throne. His coronation took place at Westminster Abbey on 6 May 2023.
