Condensation

The evaporated water(gas) goes back into a liquid.

Precipitation

water in a cloud gets heavy enough falls to the ground

Runoff

when the ground is saturated the water flows off

Infiltration

Ability of water to soak/seep into the ground

Zone of Saturation

Below water table and where all is filled with water

Zone of Aeration

above water table, below surface and where most infiltration and capillarity occur.

Water Table

The level which “below” is saturated with water.

Water Budget

Balance between water coming in and water leaving.

Porosity( How can we determine)

shape(well rounded particles) and packing(The more closely packed = lower porosity)

Porosity

the measure of void or empty space within a material (like rock or soil) compared to its total volume

Sorting

If the same size= sorted. If different size= unsorted(poorly sorted). More stored= the higher the porosity.
