1834 New Poor Law
Law was meant to reduce the cost of looking after the poor and impose a system which would be the same all over the country.
1834 New Poor Law MADE:
Groups of areas build workhouses. Poor people could only get help if they moved into a workhouse, except in special cases.
1834 New Poor Law Work Houses:
Conditions were made tough so only people who really needed help would go there. Families were separated and placed in different areas.
1834 New Poor Law Pooor:
Were made to wear a uniform and the diet was monotonous. Inmates, male and female, young and old were made to work hard, often doing unpleasant jobs such as picking oakum or breaking stones.

Find themselves hired out to work in factories or mines.
