variable
one of the most important elements in research. a central concept, basic elements, factors or characteristics that can be measured, controlled, and manipulated, simplified portions
independent variables
assumed cause/reason, something that a researcher can directly change and manipulate
dependent variable
assumed effect/result, something that we do not directly influence or manipulate
constant
known as “constants”, they stay the same in the experiment, can be more than one, present in both controlled and experimental groups
nominal scale
name/label (used in respondents profile)
ordinal scale
name/label and rank (1st, 2nd, 3rd, —)
interval scale
name/label, rank, and interval (space between one extreme to another) (ex: likert scale)
ratio scale
name/label, rank, interval, BUT it can include zero as a value (from 0 to a certain point)
