Intestate
To die without a will.
Real Property
Land and everything attached to it.
Personal Property
Property that can be tangible or intangible.
Tangible Property
Property that can be seen, touched, smelled, or felt.
Intangible Property
Property that cannot be touched, seen, or smelled.

Court that deals with the administration of estates and validity of wills.
Executor
A person appointed to manage the distribution of a deceased person's estate.
Beneficiary
A person named in a will to receive assets from the deceased.

Another term for probate court; handles matters of intestate succession.
Consanguineous Relationship
A biological or blood relationship.
Affinity Relationship
A relationship by marriage or in-laws.
Escheat
The process by which property of an intestate person goes to the state.
Slayer Statute
A law preventing someone who kills another from inheriting from them.
Testamentary Capacity
The mental capacity of a testator at the time of creating a will.
Legal Capacity
A person's authority to engage in a particular legal act.
Emancipation Requirements
Conditions under which a minor can be considered independent from parents.
Order of Filiation
The process of establishing a biological relationship for inheritance purposes.

Spouse, children, parents, siblings, grandparents, aunts/uncles, cousins
