Communication
The process of exchanging information, ideas, thoughts, and messages between individuals or groups through a common system of symbols, signs, or behavior.
Lexical Ambiguity
When a word has more than one meaning that can lead to confusion in communication.
Structural Ambiguity
Occurs when a sentence or phrase can be interpreted in more than one way due to its structure.
The 7 C's of Communication
Principles that ensure effective communication: Completeness, Conciseness, Consideration, Concreteness, Clarity, Courtesy, and Correctness.
Active Voice
A grammatical voice where the subject of the sentence performs the action.
Passive Voice
A grammatical voice where the subject of the sentence receives the action.
Receptive Skills
Skills related to understanding language, including listening and reading.
Productive Skills
Skills related to producing language, including speaking and writing.
Tense
A grammatical category that expresses the time of action or state.
Concord
Agreement between the subject and verb in number and person, essential for correct sentence structure.
