Sheer Walls/Channels/Overhangs
These areas get called in together for the most part Sheer walls are walls that are typically covered by plywood on the inside and can only be insulated from the outside. Channels are small gaps where wood framing meets and is only accessible from the outside. Overhangs are covered by lathe and are only accessible from the outside.
Radiant Barrier
Foil that is installed from the inside of the home on gable ends. Commonly goes at the same time as poly. Only a few track builders do this and is required to pass inspection.
Air Seal (Poly)
Foam that is applied to fill penetrations/gaps around windows, on wood framing going into the attic and walls leading to the exterior/garage of the home. This is commonly required for tracks
Pink Foam
Strips of pink foam that goes on the top framing walls. All tracks take pink and a few builders. (Pink is not required to pass inspection)
Roof Deck Installation
This is the insulation attached to the underside of the roof. This is required before Combo in Hesperia and tack homes. Sometimes we do the roof deck and poly and or tubs at the same time to save a trip.
Combo (4-way Inspection)
Check rough plumbing/electrical this is required before we can do production.
Fire Sprinklers
Fire marshal inspects the sprinkler system. Required prior to production.
QII (Quality Insulation Inspection)
A third-party insulation that inspects our install other thank the city/county.
Final
Final inspection happens when the home is getting ready for occupancy/sale.
Prelims
Areas that need to be insulated prior to production in order for the builder to pass inspections or areas that will be covered, and we would not be able to do with production.
Tubs/Tyvek
Typically, the first prelim called in. We install the batt insulation and Tyvek on walls where a tub/shower will be on exterior walls if they will be covered with lathe or plywood. Once they are installed it is difficult for our guys to install material there sometimes impossible.
Production Insulation
This is the roof deck if it has not been done already, the wall insulation and ceiling insulation (if we are doing blow insulation on a home, we do the inaccessible areas only. These are areas an installer would not be able to access once drywall is installed)
Blow (loose fill insulation)
This is done as the last step to complete a project. By this point the drywall is installed and the seams are mudded/taped. Our installers have to crawl through the attics
