The Linea terminalis.
What structures are contained within the lesser pelvis?
The pelvic-peritoneal cavity, pelvic-subperitoneal space, and pelvic floor (perineum).
What is the function of the levator ani muscle?
It forms the Diaphragma pelvis and represents the inferior wall of the abdominal cavity.
What are the three major parts of the levator ani muscle?
Musculus puborectalis, musculus pubococcygeus, and musculus iliococcygeus.
What surrounds the anal canal in the perineum?
Musculus sphincter ani externus.
What is the role of musc. ischiocavernosus?
It assists in the formation of the Radix penis.
What fasciae are found in the perineum?
Fascia pelvis, fascia parietalis, fascia visceralis, and others.
Describe the topography of the male pelvis's rectal area.
Anteriorly by the recto-vesical pouch, posteriorly by the sacrum, laterally by levator ani muscle, and inferiorly by the pelvic floor.
What provides support to the urinary bladder?
The peritoneum, fibrous connective formations, and the prostate.
What does the fibrous structure around the rectum help with?
It helps maintain the rectum's position within the pelvic cavity.
What supports the ovary?
Mesovarium, ligamentum suspensorium ovarii, tubo-ovarian ligament, and ligamentum ovarii proprium.
What characterizes the posterior perineum or anal triangle?
It contains the anus and is bordered by the coccyx.
What are the two triangles that divide the perineum?
The anterior triangle (urogenital region) and the posterior triangle (anal region).
What is the structure that supports the vagina?
The fibrovascular retinaculum derived from the Parametrium.
What is the location of Cowper's glands in the anterior perineum of men?
Behind the membranous urethra, between the fascicles of the transversus profundus muscles.
How does the female anterior perineum differ from that of males?
It includes the membranous urethra and the vagina.
