Munich Agreement (Germany) 30th of Sept 1938. Agreement signed by Hitler, Chamberlain, Mussolini and Daladier. Britain and France allowed Germany to annex areas in Czechoslovakia in exchange for peace. His reasoning was the had a population of 3 million ethnic Germans But Hitler in march 1939, invaded other parts. Same year started demanding territories in Poland, Germany invaded, policy abandoned.

What was the Potsdam Declaration? -
Japan kept expanding through Asia (China) and pacific in 1931 to get natural resources. (invasion China 1937) Japan had a strong dislike to Allies as they got nothing out of TOV. Joined the axis powers in 1940 (Tripartite Pact).

Why did Japan ignore the Potsdam Declaration?
Allies had already defeated Germany in Europe. Japan vowed to fight bitter end (Pacific). Truman concerned of the continuous bombing of Japan would result in the US having to invade Japan with their troops, costing many lives. Therefore Truman approved the use of the atomic bombs for a quick end to the war.

Thousands died instantly, deadly radiation reached over 100,000 people affected (cancer). Very few buildings left (60,00 buildings destroyed)
