Component 04
Performance or Coaching Evaluation and Analysis of Performance for Improvement (EAPI)
Agonist
Muscle responsible for the movement at a joint
Antagonist
Muscle that lengthens or relaxes as the agonist contracts
Fixator
Muscle(s) that stabilize the joint where the origin of the agonist sits
Flexion
Joint angle decreases, limb moves forwards
Extension
Joint angle increases, limb moves backwards
Abduction
Limb moves away from midline
Adduction
Limb moves towards midline
Horizontal flexion
Limb parallel to ground and moves forwards
Horizontal extension
Limb parallel to ground and moves backwards
Medial rotation
Limb turns about its longitudinal axis towards midline of body
Lateral rotation
Limb turns about its longitudinal axis away from midline of body
Dorsi flexion
Toes lifted up towards shin
Plantar flexion
Toes pointed down towards ground
Sagittal plane
Divides body right & left
Frontal plane
Divides body front & back
Transverse plane
Divides body top & bottom
Isotonic contraction
Contraction causing movement or change in length of muscle
Isometric contraction
Contraction without movement or no change in muscle length
