Anterior projection of the scapula that serves as a ligament attachment point

Spine of the Scapula

Bony ridge on the posterior scapula used to orient to the posterior side

Supraspinatus Fossa

Depression above the spine of the scapula

Infraspinatus Fossa

Depression below the spine of the scapula

Subscapular Fossa

Anterior surface of the scapula where subscapularis originates

Greater Tubercle of humerus

Lateral and superior bony prominence on the proximal humerus

Lesser Tubercle of humerus

Anterior bony prominence on the proximal humerus (looks bigger but name refers to location)

Intertubercular Sulcus

Bicipital groove where the long head of the bicep tendon passes through

Deltoid Tuberosity

Lateral bump on the humerus where the deltoid muscle attaches

Olecranon Fossa

Posterior depression on the humerus where the olecranon process sits during elbow extension

Medial Epicondyle of humerus

Distal bony prominence on the inside of the elbow

Lateral Epicondyle of humerus

Distal bony prominence on the outside of the elbow

Glenohumeral Joint

Joint between the head of the humerus and the glenoid fossa

Scapulothoracic Joint

Floating joint between the scapula and the rib cage

Flexion; Extension; Abduction; Adduction; Internal Rotation; External Rotation

Scapulothoracic Joint motions

Elevation; Depression; Protraction; Retraction; Upward Rotation; Downward Rotation

Glenohumeral Ligaments

Superior middle and inferior ligaments that prevent anterior dislocation of the shoulder

Coracoclavicular Ligament

Ligament made of the conoid and trapezoid that stabilizes the clavicle at the AC joint

Acromioclavicular Ligament

Ligament that stabilizes the AC joint

Coracohumeral Ligament

Ligament from the coracoid to the humerus that supports the superior aspect of the shoulder

Glenoid Labrum

Fibrocartilaginous structure that deepens the glenoid fossa to increase shoulder stability

Bursa

Fluid-filled sac between a tendon and a bony prominence that decreases friction and wear

Shoulder Separation

Injury to the AC joint where the clavicle separates from the acromion creating a step

Shoulder Dislocation

Injury to the glenohumeral joint where the humeral head leaves the glenoid fossa

Radial Head

Proximal end of the radius that fits into the radial notch of the ulna

Radial Tuberosity

Bump on the proximal radius where the biceps brachii attaches

Lister's Tubercle

Dorsal tubercle located on the distal radius

Radial Styloid Process

Distal bony prominence on the lateral thumb side of the wrist

Olecranon Process

Posterior bony bump of the elbow that slides into the olecranon fossa

Coronoid Process

Anterior projection of the proximal ulna

Radial Notch of Ulna

Depression on the proximal ulna that articulates with the radial head

Ulnar Styloid Process

Distal bony prominence on the medial pinky side of the wrist
