Interphase
The stage where the cell grows and DNA is duplicated.
Prophase
The stage in which DNA condenses to form visible chromosomes, the nucleus dissolves, and spindle fibers form.
Metaphase
The stage where the chromosomes are lined up in the middle of the cell, attached to the spindle fibers.
Anaphase
The stage where chromosomes are pulled toward opposite sides of the cell by spindle fibers.
Telophase
The stage where the nucleus membrane reforms around the chromosomes, and chromosomes unwind back into chromatin.
