Alkyl Halides
Organic compounds in which one or more hydrogen atoms have been replaced by halogen atoms.
Radical Halogenation
A method for preparing alkyl halides from alkanes using halogens and light.
Allylic Bromination
A reaction where bromine adds to the allylic position of an alkene.
Allyl Radical
A type of radical formed by the loss of a hydrogen atom from an allylic position; usually more stable due to resonance.
Grignard Reagent
Organomagnesium compounds used in organic synthesis to form carbon-carbon bonds.
Organometallic Coupling
Reactions involving organometallic compounds to form new carbon-carbon bonds.
Electrophilic Carbon
A carbon atom that is electron-deficient and can accept electrons from nucleophiles in a reaction.
Oxidation in Organic Chemistry
The process of increasing the oxidation state of a molecule by adding oxygen or removing hydrogen.
Reduction in Organic Chemistry
The process of decreasing the oxidation state of a molecule by adding hydrogen or removing oxygen.
Suzuki-Miyaura Reaction
A coupling reaction between an aryl or vinyl boronic acid and an aryl halide.
