Salinization
The process of increasing salt content in soil, often due to human activities and rising sea levels.
Halophytes
Plants that have adapted to grow in saline environments.
Anthropogenic
Environmental changes or effects caused by human activity.
Hypothesis
A proposed explanation or prediction that can be tested through experimentation.
Independent Variable
The variable that is manipulated or changed in an experiment to test its effects.
Dependent Variable
The variable that is measured or observed in response to changes in the independent variable.
Controlled Variables
Variables that are kept constant throughout an experiment to ensure that the results are due to the independent variable.
Replication
The process of repeating an experiment to ensure accuracy and reliability of the results.
Petri Dish
A shallow, flat, cylindrical container used to culture microorganisms or seeds.
Saturated
Soaked with liquid to the point where no more can be absorbed.
DI Water
Deionized water, which is purified to remove ions.
Root Length
The measurement of the length of the roots of a plant, used to assess growth.
Shoot Length
The measurement of the length of the stem or above-ground part of a plant.
