Information Technology (IT)
Technological advancements that have a significant impact on society, both positive and negative, improving communication, access to information, learning convenience, and process efficiency.
Electronic Commerce (E-commerce)
The buying and selling of goods and services, or the transmitting of funds or data, over an electronic network, primarily the internet.
Internet Auction Fraud
Any type of fraud perpetrated on auction websites, including misrepresentation of products, fraudulent bidding, or non-delivery of purchased goods.
Internet Service Provider (ISP) Scams
Deceptive practices using various methods such as disaster relief scams, phishing, and grandparent scams to steal money or information.
Phishing Scams
Scams where individuals receive emails from seemingly legitimate enterprises directing them to sites that steal personal information.
Mobile/Credit Card Cramming
A practice where a company places unauthorized charges for telephone and non-telephone related services on a telephone bill.
Pyramid Schemes
Marketing and investment frauds where profit is earned by the sale of new distributorships rather than the sale of a product.
Work-from-Home Scams
Deceitful people create fake job postings to steal personal information or financial assets.
Investment Fraud
Occurs when people attempt to trick others into investing money through false information or fake opportunities.
Travel/Vacation Fraud
Victims are enticed to pay upfront for travel arrangements, but scammers disappear after payment.
Pay-per-call Scams
Entice users to pay to make calls for information and charge exorbitant prices for calling these numbers.
Authoring Software
Software that helps with Internet based services in finding your preferred university degree course
Health Care Fraud
Intentionally deceiving the health care system to receive illegal benefits or payments, committed by medical providers, patients, or others.
Cyberstalking
Use of the Internet or other electronic means to stalk or harass an individual or group.
Teleworking
A form of work that allows employees to work part- or full-time at home or at a satellite office.
Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI)
An injury resulting from extended use of computer terminals, automated systems, or poor ergonomic setups.
Computer-Aided Design (CAD)
Using a computer to design things, such as buildings and items, allowing designers and engineers to create 2D drawings and 3D models.
Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM)
The use of software and computer-controlled machinery to automate a manufacturing process.
Multimedia
Different content forms such as text, audio, images, animations, video and interactive content.
