Anabolic Steroids

used to rapidly boil muscle in conjunction with vigorous physical training

Analgesic Drugs

used medically as painkillers, & abused as euphoriants (they provide a feeling of extreme well-being)

Behavioral Dependence

people who are dependent on a drug will do awful things to themselves & others to provide themselves with the drug

Club Drugs

not a physiological or pharmacological category, but at loose grouping of substances abused primarily by young people in an effect to enhance their enjoyment of music, dancing, & partying

Controlled Substances

a drug or chemical whose manufacture, possession, or use is regulated by law because it has a legally recognized potential for abuse or addiction

Depressant

a substance that slows down the functions of the central nervous system (CNS) by decreasing neurotransmission levels

Drug

any substance that procedures a physiological or psychological effect on the body

Hallucinogen

drugs that change one’s mental state

Physiological Dependence

occurs when one takes a substance, usually in increasing dosages because the body seems to require increasing dosages to get the same effects

Stimulant

a group of drugs that are used to increase ones mental & physical energy level
